Olive Oil, I have moved your summary to the general LCMS summary page. :) ~julz
Everyone, please add resources for WebCT to this page. For example, how to edit the homepage could go here...
1. I have uploaded zipped HTML files into Web CT using the link in the expanded Control Panel. Then, unzipped this file and copied the HTML code into a text block on my homepage and embedded the HTML code from a You Tube video. This seems to work effectively, and I can help anyone who wants to do that. - Elaine
How do I use the whiteboard in WebCT?
The whiteboard is a feature in WebCT that the instructor can enable. Follow the link, then click on start whiteboard. Depending on your internet connection it may take a short while to load the whiteboard. On the left side of the drawing pad you see some tools similar to many basic drawing programs. You can draw lines (straight or scribble) or simple shapes like rectangles and ellipses/circles. If you "mouse over" the drawing tool button the description of the tool is printed on the right side of the drawing pad under the Information header. One tool to mention is one that looks like a rectangle with a diagonal arrow (in the first tool column in row 6). If you click this tool you can reshape many of the shapes. To delete a shape you need to click on the skull image button. Now all the shapes you did draw will show little unfilled squares. If you click on any of the squares the drawing element that is associated with that square will be deleted. If you want to clear your entire whiteboard click on the "X" symbol under the WebCT icon.
To add text click on the button with the T symbol. Your mouse should change to a bar symbol. Click on the position on the whiteboard where you would like to add text, select the color from the options below your drawing area and type the text. Initially the text is underlined, but when you click enter, the text will appear as you formatted. Textboxes can be deleted as other drawing objects by clicking on the skull symbol and deleting that text box.
Sometimes it seems that when you add new drawing objects, others partially vanish. If this happens click on the File menu and select Refresh from the options. The refreshed whiteboard should show all your drawing objects again.
You can also save your drawing: Click on the File menu, then select Save from the options. A new window opens. At the top you find a list of already saved drawings or you have the option of typing a new filename in the box below that list. Click ok to save the new file.
Note: If you have used the whiteboard before it may start showing your last drawing.
