Add Voki to OTLC Wiki Tutorial

 

What is Voki?

Voki is a free web service that allows you to easily create an animated character (an avatar) with voice. You can then either post your voki to your own web site or leave it on the voki site. People will be able to view your voki and leave comments. 

 

Getting Started

Create a Voki Account

□    Go to http://voki.com

□    Select Register

□    Fill in the required information

□    You will need to use your email account to confirm your registration

 

Create Your Voki

□    Select Create a New Voki

□    Select Create a New Scene

□    Play the Demo Movie and have fun creating your Voki

□    Name and save your Voki

□    On the far left, there are three steps to Get Code

□    Click on Scene Settings and make sure the first box is deselected! It is under Playback and says Play audio automatically when Voki loads

□    For Step 1, use the dropdown menu to select Standard Web Page for the Embed In destination

□    For Step 3, use the dropdown menu and select Custom Dimensions for Size, type 150 in the width box

□    Then click Get Code

□    Click on the I Agree/Get Code button

□    Highlight and copy the code from the box (PC = ctrl+c, Mac = apple+c)

 

Add Your Voki to the OTLC Wiki

□    In another browser tab or window, go to http://nmsu-otlc.pbwiki.com/AllPages

□    Find and click on the page you created

□    Click on Edit Page

□    Find the spot you want to place your Voki and click there

□    Click on Insert Plugin in the wiki edit features

□    Scroll over PBWiki Magic and choose HTML

□    Paste your Voki code in the box (PC = ctrl+v, Mac = apple+v)

□    Click Next and click Finish

□    Click Save at the bottom right of the page and test your Voki
