We have started a blog to support the OTLC online learning community. In your OTLC courses, we will provide assignments that require you to add to this blog. Here are some tips to get started.
Blogger is a free hosted blog service that allows you to create and publish content easily on the web. Content normally takes the form of chronological posts and replies, but can also include various multimedia elements such as RSS feeds from del.icio.us bookmarks and podcasts as well as videos and a number of widgets (small embedded programs like voki).
□ Go to http://nmsu-otlc2.blogspot.com
□ Click on # Comments at the bottom of a post
□ Type in your comment and select Publish Your Comment (you can preview it first if you want)
□ Go to http://blogger.com
□ If you have a Gmail or Google account, sign in with that, otherwise create an account
□ Log in to Blogger with your Google/Gmail account
□ Go to the very top of the page and click on New Post
□ Notice the tabbing. This area is also accessible from the Dashboard
□ Type in a Title for your post – could be about how you have been or not been using Web 2.0 and some thoughts on how you plan to use Web 2.0…
□ Notice that in some browsers, you can type in HTML mode or in Compose mode
□ Type a message in the body of your post
□ Notice that you can add a link
□ Notice that you can add an image
□ Notice the basic word processing-like editing you can do in Compose mode
